Functional Theory: The functional theory focuses on the working of the leaders towards meeting the needs of the team. The leader will be aiming at achieving the cohesion and effectiveness of the team. The leader in such a case function participates actively, coaches the subordinates , motivates the others , organizes the task and monitors. Influence of the Management Approaches on own Development Encountered while Working: There are different types of skills and knowledge acquired though the development and training. This has led to meeting of individual need of the user. I gained the confidence for running my own duties. I was able to work well with the others when giving training to the workers. It helps me to build a strong relationship with the colleagues. There were times when I could not learn during the short phase of time. Training is also funded in my organization so that the cost can be cut. My manager helped me to learn about the approaches of training. I have developed myself throughout the course of my work as my manager allotted tasks to me. The experience and the knowledge that she held was passed on to me, which developed my profession. I clarified by queries along the course of my work. There were times when I received the criticism for my opinions. I have developed tremendously. My manager was approachable and flexible. There has been proper training and coaching received by my mentor. Working in the team has helped me to identify my fallacy. Team members have helped me to learn in group. Working independently has made me learn more from the experiences but it would be even better to work under someone for the proper guidance. For starting of a business, I would be recruiting the person who is capable for the post and proper training and guidance would be provided so that they turn out to be productive for the organizations (Gilmore and Williams 2013). I would be transformational leader who would be incorporating the changes in the organization as per the changes in the current scenario. Conclusion: Thus, it can be concluded that the management of the human resources is very important for the health and social care. The goals of the organization are dependent upon the people working in the organization. Human resource is one of the three principles of the inputs with the other two types of major inputs being the consumables and physical capital. There is a lot of planning and the controlling of the activities of the human resources so that efficient level of performance is done while meeting the objectives of the organization. They will showcase their ideas or products in the hope of getting assurance or support. Sometimes this validation is not given and they panic. Another way GoPro managed to gain a competitive advantage was through strategic alliances with an original equipment manufacturer like Foxconn and other hardware vendors. This communicated premium build to the customers since Foxconn ingenuity was already evident in Apple products. This gave the company traction from perceived stability by partnering with an already established company (Laboda 2012). GoPro excelled at focus strategy. This implies that they only segmented customers in the sports arena and created value for them. This is unlike other competitors prevented GoPro from going after all customers and spend money marketing where there was no guarantee of return on investment. Subsequently, they were able to specialize in their niche market (Peng 2016). GoPro action camera was perceived to be a leader in quality. This means that the company could charge their action cameras at a premium of between $200 and $400 still enjoy customer growth as the customers wanted to be associated with a quality premium product (Mac 2013). A unique competitive advantage for GoPro was that their product could be mounted on any device and also be worn as an accessory. This was a creative innovation that had not been developed in the market and enabled the company to gather a huge following among the sports fanatics as well as regular customers (Southern Cross University 2016). GoPro was able to achieve competitive advantage by creating customer clusters. Unlike other competitors like Sony who develop their cameras away from the customers, GoPro had the advantage of developing theirs near the customers which meant that they had close interactions and opportunities to incorporate customer feedback quickly into their units (Hunger and Wheelen 2014). Relationship marketing also played a big role in creating a competitive advantage for GoPro action cameras. This is evident as the company provides other accessories to their customers after selling them the GoPro cameras. These accessories include mounting pads for the cameras, Karma drones, among others that keep the customers hooked to the product (Zineldin and Philipson 2007) Social network marketing also played a key role to ensure brand awareness of GoPro action cameras. Although Woodman did not have a social network account, he invested heavily in social networks to the tune of a million dollars to ensure brand awareness of GoPro through social networks (Mac 2013). The company does not manufacture hardware. It outsources this exercise to original equipment manufacturers hence are able to bring the lower the cost of production and also stick to their core competencies. This gives them an edge in the market and also increases their profit margins (Southern Cross University 2016). An early entry in the action camera market also served as a barrier to entry for competitors since they would have to invest a lot of money and change their processes to be able to compete with GoPro (Porter 2008). GoPro future threats to the companys strategy According to Porter (2008), a company should conduct an industry analysis of the market as part of the process to establish its strengths and weaknesses which are internal factors that the company has control and opportunities and threats which are external and out of the realm of control by the company. The future threats for GoPro are thus: Increased bargaining power of the buyers The company GoPro will experience the threat of empowered customers. The bargaining power of customers increases when there are many action cameras in the market. Since original equipment manufacturers are offering similar products the only differentiation is quality and price (Peng 2016). GoPro still faces an empowered customer since competitors like Sony can offer a quality product at similar or lower prices and there are no switching costs involved (Porter 2008). Currently, GoPro commands 21% of the market share in the United States (Mac 2013). Other strong rivals in future will include Samsung electronics and their point and shoot cameras as well as action cameras. Another strong competitor is LG not to mention an array of mobile phone manufacturers who are offering action cameras as accessories to their devices. Increased bargaining power of suppliers (Low) As is evident from the case study, GoPro does not manufacture its own camera components. Rather, they outsource the manufacturing aspect to other companies. By virtue of not controlling the components, GoPro is at the mercy of the suppliers. Since the suppliers have many customers they may decide to hoard the cameras or charge a price premium for the parts supplied. However, this threat is low since there are many suppliers and the switching cost to any supplier relatively low (Porter 2008). Threat of substitutes (High) There are many direct substitute products to the action camera that GoPro produces. An example is the mobile phones which nowadays have camera functions which can easily replace the utility of GoPro action cameras. Other substitutes include Camcorders in the market as well as standalone digital cameras. All these can easily replace the functions served by GoPro action cameras (Loboda 2012). Threat of new entrants (High) The threat of new entrants is very high as there is a very minimal barrier to entry (Lee 2015). To start with, Foxconn is developing cameras for the mass market. There are many Asian companies particularly China producing action cameras and may gain entry to the US thus posing a grave danger to GoPro. Other threats include forward integration by GoPro suppliers. They may decide to compete directly with the company. The company is also exposed to decreased purchasing parity by the customers due to the global economy crisis. Moreover, the company he already listed for an IPO to go public which means external influences such as politics, the stock market, and legal issues may interfere with their business (Leitner and Guldenberg). Lastly, falling stock prices and production of several models may lead to drop in the revenues collected by GoPro. This may lead to more company restructuring and loss of capable and talented management personalities (Warren 2016). Recommendations on how GoPro can respond to these threats Firstly, the company needs to diversify. To be able to command a larger market, GoPro is considering venturing into consumer models which have access to social networks. This will decrease chances of failure (Peng 2016). The company may also consider incubating new ideas for business through innovation (Southern Cross University 2016) As market rivalry is high, GoPro should consider going global to increase its market. Well thatââ¬â¢s what I have to do. I turned 40, 4 days ago and a week ago I was diagnosed with cancer. I was told I only have a few months to live. This is when I decided I had to make the most of the next few months; I decided I wanted to travel the world. I have 2 daughters, Tahlia (12yrs) and Molly (15yrs), I also have a son, Chris (16yrs). My husband was there when we were told the bad news but I didnââ¬â¢t know how to break it to my kids.It was just so unexpectedâ⬠¦ I received a letter in the mail on the day we were leaving to go on our journey. It gave me all the more reason to goâ⬠¦ it looked as if it was written years ago; all crinkled and written in calligraphy. It has a residential address; and contact information, but it has no name to it. Maybe I should visit them? Take the letter with me and whilst Iââ¬â¢m over there I should just pop in and trace back on who it is. The letter has a lot of information and stories about my family and the writer keeps apologising for not being there for me when I was little.I wonder if itââ¬â¢s a family member. Who could it be and why would I only just receive it now? I have to go visit them in France; I want to know who it is! As I said I have to make the most of my last few months so I might as well do what my heart is telling me. Well itââ¬â¢s time we make our way to the Sydney airport ready to fly out to Spain. The kids are so excited but curious as to why we are travelling; just like Iââ¬â¢m curious to track down this letter. Hours and hours have passed and we have arrived in Spain, it looks so amazing here!I canââ¬â¢t wait to exploreâ⬠¦ this is the best idea Iââ¬â¢ve had in a long time. A taxi took us to our luxury hotel and we got settled in then it was time to hit the streets to look around. We are staying here for a week then we are moving off to France. The weather is beautiful, just like a hot summerââ¬â¢s day. I could get use to this. The kids just want to go shopping so perhaps we should take them down to wander the little shops on the streets. After days of shopping, swimming in lovely temperature water and just relaxing on luxurious holiday it was time to move on to our next destination; France.This is what I have been waiting for, for the past week. My husband keeps asking me if I think itââ¬â¢s the right thing to do but my hearts keeps telling me to go for it; to find out this mystery person. If it were him that received the letter he would want to do the exact same thing, but he just doesnââ¬â¢t understand how I feel, how much I want to know who this long lost person is before itââ¬â¢s my time to leave everyone. Itââ¬â¢s kind of scary knowing that I havenââ¬â¢t got long to live and I want to go home with something special to remember; to shut my eyes to.Once again, after hours and hours we have arrived in France; Iââ¬â¢m starting to get butterflies in my stomach, why? I think itââ¬â¢s because I am nervous to track down this letterâ⬠¦ now Iââ¬â¢m getting second thoughtsâ⬠¦ should I still do what my heart is telling me to do? I canââ¬â¢t see any harm in just going to this address and finding out who it is then just sit down with a cup of tea and talk about the letter. It wouldnââ¬â¢t do any harm would it? My husband seems to think I shouldnââ¬â¢t just rock up on their doorstep but how else would I contact them.They didnââ¬â¢t leave a number or a name. They just left their address and details on where they live, so maybe they will eventually be expecting meâ⬠¦ Tomorrow I will do it but for today I will just settle in and share some special time with my family as I have no time to waste. The language here is so different, not many people speak Englishâ⬠¦ we can hardly understand a word everyone is saying. Luckily the kidââ¬â¢s study French as a language at their school and pick up a few things people are saying to us. The kids are loving all the different meals to the ones we eat at home.All this is just an eye opener to them. Iââ¬â¢m glad I brought them here to enjoy some amazing places with me in my last months with them. Anyways, back to the hotel we go, to enjoy a relaxing dinner together and to head to bed to get some sleep for an adventurous day coming our way. Woke up the next morningâ⬠¦ so excitedâ⬠¦ but soâ⬠¦ so nervous. My heart is still telling me to go for it. We went down and hired a car for the rest of the time we will be staying here just so we didnââ¬â¢t have to catch taxis everywhere and then off we went to this address written on the letter.As we were driving up their driveway I could see a very old, fragile lady raking the leaves away from the porch. Could it be her? Maybe she wrote the letter. I got out of the car and started walking towards her, then her little voice yelled out hello my dear, can I help you? . I replied to her telling her I had some questions to ask so she invited me in for a coffee even though we were complete strangers to each other. I then got straight to it and asked her about the letter. She told me she was expecting this day to come very soon but I asked why?She said, the letter in your hand was written by your grandmother, she use to live here in this house but she asked me if this day ever came if I could pass this message on to you and tell you how she is now safe up in heaven looking over every move you makeâ⬠¦ in the letter the reason she apologises to you a lot is because she didnââ¬â¢t give you the care you needed when you were a little girl; when your mum wasnââ¬â¢t there to give you the help you neededâ⬠¦ I interrupted and asked her what happened to my mum.She then went on, when you were very young, your mum was killed in a car accident but you were too little to understand. You would always tell your grandmother that you didnââ¬â¢t need her help because your mum would be back from her holiday and be with you soon and every time she tried to help you, you pushed her away. Anyway, that is enough of thatâ⬠¦ she left some family treasures here with me and asked me to pass them on to you on this very day. Take them back home with you and keep them very safe, pass them down through the family so they will always be treasured as a family token.Thank you for making the decision to come now you have a gift of the family to keep in your heart. This was such a surprise to me; I didnââ¬â¢t know what to say. How could I do that to my grandmother? I didnââ¬â¢t even give her the chance to help bring me up as a child. Oh well, I suppose I canââ¬â¢t take back time and change things now. Now that thatââ¬â¢s over and done with I feel so special inside and now I can go enjoy the rest of my time with my wonderful family in such an amazing place.We enjoyed every day for the rest of our holiday as if there were no tomorrow and it was just great knowing we were together as a family. But time went so fast and it was time to go back home, you know what they all say time goes fast when youââ¬â¢re having funââ¬â¢. We made our way back home after a very long plane trip and some car travelling, but once we got there, it felt so good to be home. We all sat at the dinner table together and Molly asked, mum, why did we go on that trip? What was it for? .I told her what was wrong with me; sweetheart mummy is really sick, I didnââ¬â¢t know how to tell you guys before but now I know itââ¬â¢s the right thing to do, any day now mummy can just not wake up, but you guys will be okay because you will have daddy here to look after you. Mummy will be up there with her mum and grandmother and the rest of our family looking over you and guiding you through your journey of growing up. I will always be in your hearts and in your minds and no matter what I will always love you! . The kids didnââ¬â¢t know what to say, it was such as surprise. They all got up and hugged me as we all shed some tears.I told them everything was going to be okay and that one day we would meet again! It was one of the hardest things I have had to do, it broke my heart seeing them so upset, but I know my husband will have it all under control. We all went to bed, I tucked in my kids and told them a story that I use to tell them when they were little to put them to sleep every night. Then it was my turnâ⬠¦ I put my head on my pillow. Knowing I had come home with a gift of life, and knowing that when itââ¬â¢s time, I will just be reunited with my mum. I laid thereâ⬠¦ and shut my eyes for the very last timeâ⬠¦
